Car insurance-- is this legal.

Car insurance-- is this legal.

Postby darenwegan » Fri Aug 14, 2009 4:08 am

I am going to try and put this as easy as possible. i am a 17 year old female. I got my own car, however insurance is going to puncture me slightly. i think i found a loop hole, i am just not sure if this is legal...

if there are 3 licensed drivers and 3 vehicles each driver has to be the primary driver on each car.

loop hole.

So 2/3 cars are insured under one insurance company. Is it okay to have my mom go to a different insurance company to insure my car, and she would be the primary driver and i could be an occasional driver?

my moms name is on the ownership.

I think this is legal but you should confirm it before you go to another insurance company.

Yup, I think you found a loophole but I would suggest that you check it with your insurance agent. There are a lot of companies that offer cheap female car insurance if you are not satisfied with your current one. Insurance fraud is a dangerous thing... Just saying

It sounds a little fishy. Trust me you don’t want to get caught for fraud. If you want to save money, enroll in a defensive driver’s course to make good grades so you’re eligible for a good student discount.

Everyone here advised to you regarding various ideas, but one thing i want to know here is; what problem you faced from your previous car insurance company so that you are searching for another company. Is there any issue of claim disapproval or something like that.

Ya i agree with the other posts this does sound a lil iffy. Even if you mess up unintentionally you ll be in big trouble. Plus if you are only 17 and such black marks can ruin a lotta good opportunities.

There you will find separate insurance cover for each car from different companies, i think there is no legal issue related to it, go for it, it will save lot of money for your family.
