Dodge truck is 1987, standard changed to auto transmission. Is this something that should be taken care of or is it OK to drive it this way? What type of repair place shoud we take it to? How much should it cost? What would it take for us to do the repair ourselves?

probably a bad egr valve or plugged lines to the egr valve, theyre not too expensive and only put on by 2 bolts easy fix,it will just get worse if you let it go.

This is a late in time post but for dodge owners who're having problem with their autos, would be better to end up with a trusted auto service center. On the other hand, the online community has some sort of Dodge parts truly meant for tuning and replacement.
