How to find model of a car. Honda Civic Lx/Ex.

Postby kendrickcrosbby » Sun Apr 05, 2009 3:27 pm

I just bought a Honda Civic, I dont know if its lx / ex (its 4 door) how do I find that out?) there is no lx or ex symbol on the back. its a used car that I bought, and it doesnt say anything on the informations that came with the car. its automatic, the windows and locks are manual . no sunroof. hope that helps.

It could be A Dx.... .. It has Air conditioner and also powersteering... is that dx?

How do I Also find out what speed it is? 5 speed?

It says D2/D3/D4 on it. I think ( IAm not with my car right now lol ) ... ..

with manual everything and so forth, I would say that it is the base DX, with no power windows, locks, etc. he next step up, the EX, includes power windows/locks, AC, etc. The final level, LX gets a better stereo and nicer wheels. The last step is the Si, which is the performance oriented version.

Re: How to find model of a car. Honda Civic Lx/Ex. It would help to know what year

It would help to know what year the vehicle is but I suspect that you have a VP. This was the only Civic that did not have any letters signifying the trim level prior to the year 2006.

The came with Manual Mirrors, Manual Door Locks, and Manual Windows. They have a factory installed Sound system and A/C.

These were out in 2001/02 I believe.

The Base Model DX had no radio no A/C installed at the factory but they did have the DX on the lower rear right hand side.

The LX came with standard A/C power goodies and Cruise Control. LX on the lower right hand side rear.

The DX-VP-LX all had a 115hp engine

The EX had Power Moon roof and a 127hp engine, EX on the lower right rear.

You can determine the year of your vehicle by counting from left to right to the tenth number on your Vin. If that digit is a letter Y you have a 2000 if it as number then that number is the year IE: a number 2 = 2002 a number 1=2001.

You have a 4 speed automatic. D3 is simply a inner city position if you never go over 30 miles per hour so I would recommend using the D4 as you will travel at lower RPM and save gas as well as wear and tear on your engine.

I seriously suspect that you have the VP though

Actually, the Si is a step above the EX... the Si is a "sport" type package with a better engine...

Arron V is wrong. EX is the highest trim which includes a sunroof. LX is mid. It would help to know what year range your civic is.

No sunroof = not an EX. Manual windows & door locks = not LX. So it's a DX.

One things for sure, you have a 4 speed automatic transmission in your car. Now, to determine what trim level you have. If you don't have power windows or locks, you have a DX model. The difference between the LX and EX will depend on the year.

If you have a 1990-1991 model, the difference is the DX has a 92hp1.5 litre engine while the EX has a 1.6 with 108 hp and color keyed mirrors. I chose those years because 1990 was the first year for the Civic EX.

If you have a 1992 - 1995 model, the LX still has the 1.5 litre engine (now 103 hp) and the EX has a 1.6 litre VTEC engine with 125 hp. Also, these EX models came with a standard power moonroof, and ABS-further differentiating it from the LX model.

The 1996-2000 models all had a 1.6 litre engine with the LX delivering 115 hp while the EX retained the VTEC (now with127 hp) engine, moonroof and ABS.

2001-2005 LX had a 1.7 liter engine with the EX also having the 1.7 with VTEC, moonroof , ABS and alarm. Both had the same hp rating as before.

The current LX and EX have the same engines. The EX still has exclusive factory moonroof, standard ABS, and alarm, but now has 16" wheels and a navigation system option.

I hope this helps.

My Honda civic 1995 model, has stereo and AC and has an automatic door lock when Gear is in D (Drive)-but I am not sure if it is installed separately. Automatic Transmission (4-speed), without POWER STEERING, and No Sunroof. VIN # - JHMEG86100S307118...

What model is it? DX? LX? some say it is LX... but it has no power steering...buy cialis
