What to do when infiniti dealer mechanic misdiagnosed my car.

Postby ForkiGrand » Tue Apr 14, 2009 1:35 pm

I went to Inifiniti dealer because my check engine light and transmission lite lit up. They diagnosed the problem and told me they had to replace the control valve/tcm assembly to resolve the issue. The price was roughly $2,700.They called and said to come pick up my car because it's fixed and everything is ok now. I turned the key in their parking lot the same lights started flashing. The dealer came up with some excuse as to why and told me it's probably going to do that on and off. fixed and I should not worry about the light. So I drove the car home. My transmission was still not shifting right and both lites still on, so I decided to call him back as soon as I got home to drop the car off again. After I dropped it off again the dealer finally called me after 2 weeks and told me that they misdiagnosed the car and that it needs a new wire harness. It took his mechanics 15 hours more to diagnose and that it would cost me $1900 more but we can meet half way. What do I do now?

Talk to thhe owner of the dealership! Then get a lawyer if you are not satisfied. You took it to the EXPERTS and they were not qualified to diagnose.

I could rebuild my whole Buick from top to bottom with that money.Man why do people buy these forgin cars. They do last a little longer but when something does happen watch out.Sounds to me like you got screwed but that's where they got ya because theres only a small handfull that will touch that junk. But anyway the fist time it was misdiagnosed so you should not be liable for the 2700 dollars you paid the first time.Get a lawer its the only way.

First of all, I would contact an attorney. Second of all, if they told you that they misdiagnosised the problem, they are responsible to reinburse you for the bill you paid. Third, there is no reason for you to pay the $1900 bill if you have already paid $2700 for the original repair. $2700 minus $1900 equals $600 in store or cash credit that you should be receiving back.

I would definately go and get a second opinion as far as what is wrong with your car. Also, depending on how new your car is, your warrenty should cover the parts and labor to repair and replace the parts needed.

tow you car away from that no good dealer and never go there again even in your complete total entire lifetime --- there must be another infinitey store near you --------- get the car fixed and sell it ---- buy a bmw or a Tahoe and forget all those ''rice burners''..........

There is something called Small Claim Court in NYC.Maybe something similar where you are,or Better Business Bureau,or Consumer Affairs?Or call your credit card company and dispute the charges?Just a thought.Good luck.

call the corporate customer service and complain. make sure all repairs and all conversations from that dealer are documented. good luck. they should not charge you more for their mistakes.

Frankly, if they are admitting a misdiagnosis, they should step a little further up to the plate and offer you a 50% refund on the tcm replacement along with the "meet you 1/2 way" offer on the harness.

i wonder why have not performed counter checks prior fixing...
my point is whenever i got some car care problem and if it exceeds more than $1000,
i always consult more than one franchise....
in this case you simply filed a claim...
