How often should one have a transmission flush on a Nissan Maxima.

I have a 2003 Nissan Maxima with 41000 KMS on it. The last time I took it in for service I was told that the car is due for a transmission flush.

As long as your car isn't leaking transmission fluid you will be good for 100,000 miles. They tell you it needs to be done at 50k usually so they can make more money. You can change it if you want but its a waist of money. Its like your oil change they recommend 3k but its good for 5k

Re: How often should one have a transmission flush on a Nissan Maxima. A tranny flush can wait til 100

A tranny flush can wait til 100,000 miles, IF, the fluid on the stick is still that healthy pink color (not dark) and doesn't have the tell-tale burnt smell to it. I'm guessing that Nissan recommends a flush at somewhere around 60,000. They recommend this because they have to consider their cars that end up in hot climates, or driving on steep roads as with mountain communities. Those things will take a heavy tole on trannies and the fluid. But regular driving that doesn't involve those stresses can prolong a tranny flush until 90 to 100,000 miles.

Drain and fill every 30 thousand miles that keeps the transmission happy. and takes only 3.5 to 5 quarts. A fluid change takes about 12 quarts a flushing machine uses about 20 quarts to completely change all the fluid. Flushing is better but frequent 30,000 mile fluid drain and fills will do nicely.

Drain and fill (easier than an oil change) around 30K.

In my own point of view I would not agree to flush as the transmission doesn't have filter they used the screen instead of filter. As for my side, i called the dealership and they replied don't flush the transmission. I also have a friend who had flushed the transmission on 60K however a few few months later the problems come out and need to change. Bottom line, if you would be planning for the replacement stuff then, Nissan parts are always available in both local as well as online.
