Is a 2001 Nissan Altima a reliable car.

I found a 2001 Nissan Altima for $4500 it has 118000 miles on it. I thought it was a good deal and was ready to buy, than some friends started telling me that Altimas are bad cars they need belts changed every certain amount of miles and always has problems. Wanted to know if anyone knows anything about Altimas or has heard the same thing.

So long as there has been regular maintenance they are good cars. Also, the engine has a timing CHAIN as opposed to a belt. However $4500 is high- ask $3500 and see if they bite.

Re: Is a 2001 Nissan Altima a reliable car. They are reliable. Belts on

They are reliable.

Belts on almost all cars need to be changed sometime right after 100,000 miles.

Pretty much all Japanese cars are very reliable except Mitsubishi, which is average.

Yes Till now Nissan built many reliable cars..Altima's are pretty reliable from what I know..It has better Fuel efficiency, fun to drive, comfortable secure seating, Enough space. As Uwertod said changing belts is almost common in every car after every 100,000 miles. You will not need not to worry if proper and regular maintenance are done ..

In alot of newer cars you can just swap your belt for a chain instead.

Not sure about it...you might want to try to have a look at a very reliable used car dealer in Wales. that's where I got mine one, a Nissan Navara.

The 2001 Nissan Altima has been a very reliable car. Since I purchased it, I have only performed general maintenance (spark plugs, oil change, etc.) and it still runs great.

It is a nice car, it will good deal for you. In my opinion Nissan Altima is a reliable car for buying, but before buying your should collect more information about it, and your can get more information about it by reading customers reviews.

The mid-size sedan market is important for all carmakers, and the Nissan Altima has recently been on a roll. The new Altima sedan also adopts more safety and technology, with standard Bluetooth and streaming audio, and available wide-angle rear-view camera, lane-departure warning systems, and satellite radio. The most notable changes to the all-new 2013 Nissan Altima are found in the interior, though the continuously variable transmission (CVT) received an overhaul, and fuel economy estimates now beat many of its competitors. A few reviewers point out that the four-cylinder model has a loud engine, but many think that if you can get past that, there’s not much to dislike with the new Altima.
