well my sister has a 2001 grand am gt while my step mom has a 2001 grand prix gt. I have driven them both and they are excellent cars. they are nice inside, and they are pretty fast. If you get on i would go with the Grand Prix i like it better, its bigger and nicer inside, also make sure to get the GT version, and four doors look better and easier to transport...good luck,

PS. I have a mustang and im going to get rid of it i am currently looking at a 1999 grand prix GTP, basically looks like a 2001, but it is a GT that is super charged...

Grand prixs are bullet proof. Get a 2004 grand prix gtp and you will love it. its the fastest and most reliable car i have ever owned. if you talk to any GM mechanic and ask them what they think about the grand prix in general. they will say its one of the best cars they have ever come out with. the 3.8 liter engine will run 300,000 miles easily and so will the trans. its an amazing car.

Personally I have owned several Grand Ams. I have loved every one I have had from 1991-2000. They are sporty, safe, reliable and economical to own. There are sites you can visit and read owners reviews for them. I have not owned a Grand Prix, but they have same engines and transmissions. I hope this has helped you.

You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here - autoinsurance.noneto.com
