VW Jetta and VW reliability?

Postby piyush123 » Sat Jul 31, 2010 8:00 am

I am looking at getting a 2010 VW Jetta SE automatic. Is this a good car. I drove it and loved it! It was the best car i have driven in a while, driving only Toyota's before this point. I have heard some bad things about reliability. If the car is taken car of and serviced when it should be, will it be ok. I need a car that will last a while and be somewhat affordable to maintain. So what is your opinion on the Jetta and VW. If it is bad, what would you suggest? I can't spend more then $23,000 but want it to be as nice as the Jetta with similar features. Thanks for your help!

Transmissions are junk. I'm not sure what the warranty is on a VW but I doubt it's equal to what some other companies are offering. What you want for reliability and performance is a subaru. There should be something in that general price range (possibly a base wrx). Better car all around. Otherwise you might want to look at a hyundai genesis (2.0Turbo) better warranty.
